Biography

Nicola was born and brought up in Ayr on the West Coast of Scotland. In 2018, she received a BSc (Hons) degree in Chemical Physics from the University of Glasgow. A year later, she obtained an MScR degree with Merit in Optical Medical Imaging with Healthcare Innovation from the University of Edinburgh. Her Masters degree project in Edinburgh involved investigating methods of signal processing with time-resolved Raman spectroscopy for in-situ clinical applications in Hepatology.

On completion, she then decided to move back into the field of fundamental time-resolved chemical physics and joined the Hedley Single Molecule Laboratory here in Glasgow in October 2019 to study for a PhD on the time-resolved photophysics of organic semiconductors. Nicola has a strong passion for a variety of musical genres and instruments and frequently attends live concerts. She also enjoys competing in equestrian, travelling and hillwalking.
